<h2>Aims</h2>
<ul>
<li>to explore the nature of identity and then its subcategory of digital identity</li>
<li>to consider the concept of identity projects and how these might be enacted &#8211; in part &#8211; online or digitally</li>
<li>to examine our own online identity practices and activities</li>
<li>to set the concept of online identity in a contemporary context in which there are multiple uses of the term identity circulating in a number of public discourses</li>
<li>to present the notion of hybridity through key texts in (digital/online) identity studies, Bayne&#8217;s (2004) Mere Jelly, Bhabha&#8217;s (2004) Location of Culture, Haraway&#8217;s (1985) Cyborg Manifesto</li>
</ul>
<h2>Learning outcomes</h2>
<p>At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:</p>
<ul>
<li> articulate their own understanding of the nature of human identity and how this is worked out in online/digital environments</li>
<li>explain their own online practices in terms of identity projects</li>
<li>explain steps that can be taken to better manage their online identity practice</li>
<li>build on the concept of multiple hybrid identities in order to more effectively represent themselves to different audiences in different spheres.</li>
